The Details

Workshops can be delivered as single sessions, multi-day intensives, ongoing programs, retreats, or special event offerings. These events can be hosted off site, at your location, or at Nova Arts Hub.

  • Send a request through email...

Introduce yourself and your organization/group. I appreciate when people offer a bit of relational context before asking for project collaborations. Please be clear with WHAT is being asked, budget, and timeline. Having this helps me prepare in responding based on my capacity.

  • If it aligns, schedule a meeting to discuss...

If the request aligns, we will plan a time to meet either virtually or in person to discuss details, share goals, and build what the workshop will look like. We will also finalize everything from the costs, timelines, and other details needed to prepare.

  • Prepare custom next steps, working agreement, and start the work!

Any additional work will be done when a working agreement is signed. We will prepare the next steps and get started!

What Makes Nova Different? Is this just another art gallery?

Nova Art Hub focuses on programming that intersects art with culture, community, and liberation. We know that artists have always been at the forefront of social movements and major changes in the world. We know that the artistic way of thinking- the designer of ideas- is absolutely essential in re-imagining a world where marginalized communities can thrive.

Nova Art Hubs hopes to connect artists, cultural workers, and community organizers to use art as a tool in building resilient and liberated communities. Through art as a focal point, we can find innovative approaches to understanding strengths, challenges, and opportunities for a better future for our communities. While some programs will be directly linked to this, most of the events focus on skill sharing, building relationship, and community (the important but often forgotten themes in these conversations).

We also prioritize the visions of our community members. This work cannot be done alone and cannot be done by one person. In a city where spaces for events and community-building is limited, we hope to be a space where folks can approach us with their dreams and collaborate in bringing them to life.

Who Is Nova For?

Nova Arts Hub is for community members who come from historically oppressed communities and who have an interest in using creativity to create new paths towards liberation. When we say 'historically oppressed', we mean from communities (cultural, genetically, based on an identity...) that has been or currently faces oppression. This may mean people from the global majority (Black, Indigenous, people of colour, etc), from cultures that have been oppressed, queer and trans folks, etc. Note: these examples are non-exhaustive.

While there are spaces specific for Indigenous folks, Black folks, Queer folks, newcomers, etc..., there are very few spaces where we can come together. What makes Nova Arts Hub unique is that is offers a space for cross-cultural collaboration, creating cross-cultural solidarity and reflection among community members.

Vision

Our vision at Nova Arts Hub is to create a space where individuals from oppressed cultures can come together through art to envision and pursue cross-cultural liberation. We aim to foster a creative community that inspires, heals, and empowers, driving innovative approaches to building resilience and celebrating diverse artistic expressions.

Mission

We are dedicated to facilitating artistic gatherings, events, and rental opportunities that inspire creativity, foster cross-cultural understanding, and empower our community. By providing a welcoming space for diverse voices, we aim to explore new paths toward liberation and resilience. This is done through prioritizing dialogue based programming which builds our awareness of WHY and HOW WE create, and build collective capacity to facilitate these spaces through collaborations.
