December
This month is cold! We're tired! We need to get together! This month offers a variety of events for new and returning participants to enjoy. From fundraisers, life drawing with a local performer, and non-violent communication training, there's an entry point for anyone.
‘TO BE SEEN’ Drawing Session Modelling by Julius
Life drawing is where artists have a chance to draw and practice observation skills in the presence of a live person/model. While traditional life drawing often involves nude models, we encourage our models to present themselves as their truest selves—whether that means wearing cultural regalia, an outfit they don’t feel safe wearing in public, gender-affirming clothing, or anything else that represents who they are. Artists will be tasked with mindfully observing and capturing the model's authenticity in their drawings.

Non-Violent Communication Training with Shaylin
Shaylin Warren wants to support you in building relationships with others in a good (empathetic, responsible and responsive) way. Join us to practice empathetic listening and responsible expression through activities, ressource analysis and of course, discussion.
WHY THIS EVENT AT NOVA?
As the Nova Arts Hub circle develops, it is critical that we establish effective communication practices at the beginning.Nova’s goal is to hold space for folks in a good way so they can practice art-making as a tool for change. We know that this work comes with hardship, strong feelings and diverse perspectives. We encourage anyone who will be taking up space in Nova to participate in this training so we can collectively build our circles of support!
