UPCOMING EVENTS

August 28 6pm-9pm
K(no)w history, k(no)w self (Workshop, Meal, and Gathering)
Milo invites the community to join them for a night of storytelling and hands-on collective art making. Storytelling is an art form that connects us to our past, deepens our understanding of the world, and can shape how we move towards our future. What does history look like when told through the stories by our communities? How does sharing the stories of our communities through our own words, rather than our oppressor’s, empower and connect us? These are all themes that will be explored at “K(no)w history, k(no)w self.”
A story of Filipino migration and diaspora community resistance will be shared and followed by attendees visually sharing their own stories through scrap-book/collage making. Attendees are encouraged to bring personal photos/collage materials they’d like to use, and additional materials will be available. All are welcome to join this event, regardless of background and experience. Milo hopes to create a space where community building rooted in love, justice, and solidarity can be fostered. A Filipino dish and refreshments will be offered as well.
Bring cash if you’d like to purchase prints or donate to local Filipino grassroots organizing.
Maraming salamat and kita kits/ thank you very much and see you!
