KEEPING OUR ECONOMIES LOCAL
Nova Arts Hub envisions a new way of financing this work, stepping away from solely non-profit structures that rely on government funding, as well as the commodification of services through a traditional business model.
Nova Arts Hub relies on the support of local businesses, organizations, and sponsorships to do this work. Because of this, our work happens as long as it relevant and valued by our local communities.
Sponsorships have taken many forms, from direct donations, sponsoring specific programs, or finding reciprocal partnerships to make this happen.
Did you know that sponsorships can be considered a tax write off? Let's work together to find a way to keep our economy systems within our local communities!
Sponsorships
Supporting Nova Arts Hub is an opportunity to empower marginalized communities through the arts, support emerging artists and cultural workers, help foster safe, inclusive spaces for creativity, healing, and dialogue and receive community recognition.
Sponsorships can happen for specific programs, or to fund ongoing operations (always preferred)!
Though Nova Arts Hub is not a registered non-profit, your sponsorship can be 100% tax-deductible as a promotional expense. Rather than contributing to systems that often overlook community-rooted and Indigenous-led work, your sponsorship directly funds grassroots, culturally grounded programming that matters.
Ways this can look:
- A sponsor funds a specific Nova Art Hub program, covering artist honoraria and materials, allowing the program to run at low or no cost for community members.
- A sponsor contributes to Nova’s ongoing operations (rent, supplies, coordination)
- A sponsor commits to ongoing monthly or annual support
Donations
Donations are always appreciate to allow us to decide where our funding needs to be spend. While programs and projects are the core of our work, donations often support staff time, operations, and supply costs.
Ways this can look:
- Direct donations
- Partial proceeds from products (ie., coffee shop has a 'Nova drink' where funds go towards our work, or a yoga studio gives earnings from one class per week)
- Donation jars at your location
Parterships
We also know that there are many creative ways that our work can be reciprocal. Lets create new precedents for how our funds can directly support the ongoing programming we offer, while also feeding into your work.
Examples of how this can work:
- Local business funds a program that ends in temporary art displays in their space
- A business supports an artist residency or project, and the artist offers public engagement moments such as an artist talk, live art-making, or community drop-in at the business location.
- A business contributes financial or in-kind support toward Nova’s core operations, allowing Nova to offer low-barrier or free programming, while the business is acknowledged as a community care partner.
- A local artist residency partners with Nova Arts Hub to co-coordinate a visiting artist to work with Nova Arts Hub and engage with our communities.
