Learning to Dance Again Workshop with Alessia

A dance workshop focused on decolonizing our approach to movement.

K(no)w History, K(no)w Self: Storytelling, An Act of Love and Resistance

Stories of Filipino migration and diaspora community resistance was shared, and attendees were then invited to visually express their own stories through collage-making. Participants brought personal photos and materials to incorporate into their collages, and additional supplies were provided. Through this collective art-making process, attendees reflected on their histories and identities, creating visual narratives that honored their experiences and community resilience.

Paint Your Own Drum (Indigenous Art Transfer and Painting Workshop

Facilitated by Coast Salish artist Dahlila Charlie, the event guided participants through the process of transferring and painting Indigenous designs onto their drums or canvases. Attendees brought their own drums—or used provided canvases if they did not have one—and were supported step by step in bringing their designs to life. The session created a meaningful space for cultural expression, creativity, and connection through traditional art-making.

Zellij Moroccan Tile Making Workshop

The workshop featured introductions and reflections on Amazigh Zellij tile making and Coast Salish art, guided participants in creating personal cultural tiles to share with the group, and culminated in assembling all tiles into a collective art piece displayed at Nova Arts Hub.

Drum Making Workshop with Abuela Viola


Participants were invited to take part in a Mesoamerican drum-making workshop followed by a special talk with Abuela Viola, who was visiting from Mexico.


Carrying Her Fire: A Matriarchal Art Gathering


Coast Salish artist, Dahlila, led us through a circle on the matriarchs in our lives, followed by a prompted art activity.

Poetry Reading and Body Abstraction Workshop


Participants had the chance to hear Tracy read from their newly released book Nastos, with each poem brought to life through embodied storytelling, and after each reading Tracy held a pose, allowing artists to capture both their physical form and the emotional resonance of the poetry.

Storytelling Winter Event 2025
