Exhibitions

As the collective learning and knowledge builds, it is certain that certain themes and reflections will be generated. Based on these themes, Nova Art Hub will host exhibitions that offer opportunities for those who have been involved in programming to showcase their work while also letting the general public bare witness to it.  These exhibitions will not only highlight diverse artistic talents but also serve as a medium to communicate the themes and stories explored in our collective learning sessions. Happening on a quarterly basis, these exhibitions will co-align with the seasons to assure an Indigenous approach to hosting and sharing can be adhered to.

This is the first time Nova Arts Hub has displayed artwork beyond Lajah’s own, and it is no accident that the first to do so are Songhees youth. This space was built as a home for art as resistance, healing, transformation, and dialogue. With that in mind, I am committed to creating a world where Songhees youth have the opportunity to have their work seen—in all its joy, all its depth, and all its power. Their voices and creations should not only be prioritized in artistic spaces but in all spaces. Placing them at the forefront of Nova Arts Hub is a commitment to a future where young voices are at the centre of everything we do.

The artworks are exhibited in the gallery and event participants are welcome to witness them during their time at Nova.

By witnessing this artwork, we are all invited to reflect:

How am I creating paths for future generations?
How do I make space for young voices to be seen and heard?
What kind of world do I want to build—and how does art help us get there?

Step in. Witness. Reflect. And most of all, celebrate these young artists and the worlds they are creating.
