When we imagine the revolutions needed for true justice in this world, we need more than just our heads. This piece illustrates all the heads of the ancestors from lineages where violent leadership was present. What do we learn from this? Here, these tearful heads are all that remains in empty lands. ‘Talking Heads’ invites us to honor our whole body, our whole spirit, our community, and the land through all our actions. We cannot ignore the ancestors who caused harm. But we can learn from them and walk through this world with intention and our hearts at the forefront.
